Goodrich Castle
A visit on July 5th 2020

Our second weekend trip out after the lockdown, an escape from the familiarity of our nearby space, took us to Goodrich Castle. The landscape around Goodrich Castle is part of what makes this place a special one. The views across the surrounding Wye Valley and The Forest of Dean are full of summer shades of green and steaks of passing water.

Goodrich is mix of ruinous stone coloured seaside sand and marble white. A medieval treasure, it imposes itself against a green canvas with jagged pride. Within its walls, we wandered across battlements and between arches, climbing in the place of our predecessors as though revisiting their realm, yet; with a time travellers curiosity and awe.

Leaving behind the 21st Century for an hour, we imagine a past; as we explore this space.
