Reaction

I react, as a seeing, sensitive photographer to the effects of human interaction and circumstance......

When we visited the Moon exhibition at Gloucester Cathedral, many people were looking at the exhibition through their camera or phone. Our experience of a spectacle like this is influenced, to a great extent, by our use of the camera. I was interested in how people were relating to the exhibition,  how their physical interaction was defined by the need to be photographed or recorded as having been there. In some sense, people are inhibited by this need to capture a moment, or the occurrence of their visit and are denied a more visceral experience.

"The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people's reality, and eventually in one's own". - Susan Sontag
